Like many of you, I was puzzled by the new pavement markings recently installed leading up to The Circle in Georgetown. After making a few inquiries, I learned that the symbol is an approved marking under the Federal Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices (MUTCD). However, despite its federal approval, many residents have found the symbol to be unclear and confusing.

After raising these concerns with the Secretary of Transportation, the Department has agreed to replace the marking with a more familiar right-turn arrow. We are currently awaiting a timeline for when this change will be implemented.

I appreciate the community’s outreach on this issue, as well as the Secretary’s responsiveness and willingness to make adjustments based on public feedback.

Thank you Brian! I can bring white paint and a paint brush Saturday morning

If you don't know what it means, you probably shouldn't have a license.

They’re Always trying to reinvent the wheel.

Familiar marking having driven in large cities with roundabouts over my decades of driving.

Looks like they want you to swerve toward the curb then bank a hard left

Thank you Brian…..looks like a left turn😳

Thank you ! Looks like a left turn arrow 🤪 I took it to mean continue around the circle

It means go around the little island and travel left. I mean that's what it will say after someone gets done drinking 🍸.

They need to make the first light off the circle on 9 permanently green it is getting backed up people can go into the circle because the right turn is completely blocked with traffic I sat for 30 mins on a random Tuesday in May sitting alongside the court house waiting for traffic to move wheew

We're doomed.

I am waiting for an out of towner to hang a left!

What the heck they changing the direction of the circle

It literally matches the sign it’s telling u go around the circle

…and they wanna cut education funds 🤦🏾‍♂️

I see a straight ahead around the circle and left

I remember when they painted lines around it for the first time. I was taking the driving portion of driver’s Ed. My teacher said it was for the tourists.

Just like the walking path on route 1.

They just painted it the way most people drive it.😂

Just hope someone who is drunk doesn't turn left!

Someone will be turning left, following the arrow....🤦🏻‍♂️

Why would you put an arrow on the road that points in the wrong direction? Sometimes I just wonder where the brains are anyway! Ha!

Look kids, Big Ben, Parliament!!

Thank you Brian for addressing issues promptly! Our hometown appreciates your hard work!

I have common sense and can figure that out, but watching people drive down a straight road scares me at times…….

Thanks Brian, for sure a potential accident.

Ernie and Pete started this years ago. Hope Delaware continues to promote Lyme Awareness. So much needs to be learned for prevention, diagnosis and insurance covering medical treatment. Most importantly, treatments need to be found that work!

Should be tick awareness month, since a new tick bite originating illness is spreading into our region at a fast pace, Alpha-gal syndrome which makes people allergic to red meat, but side effects vary person to person from mild to severe.

Great job

Great to hear. Lyme disease is hard to get diagnosed properly. I’ve had many tick removals myself.

Did not know about this. My son has Lyme Disease and he struggles with some medical issues we think comes from Lyme. Hope this brings light to this condition.

Great to hear! Don't you have to do this yearly. I remember the year you all did this before. Why if you make it that way do you have to keep doing it

MEDIA RELEASE: Senator Pettyjohn Reintroduces Legislation to Protect Consumer Choice in Vehicle Purchases

DOVER — With a controversial electric vehicle (EV) sales mandate still on the books and set to take effect without legislative action or regulatory repeal, Senate Republican Whip Brian Pettyjohn (R – Georgetown) has introduced Senate Bill 140 (SB 140). The legislation seeks to prohibit the Department of Natural Resources and Environmental Control (DNREC) from enacting regulations that limit the sale of new gas- and diesel-powered cars, trucks, and SUVs.

This measure mirrors 2023’s Senate Bill 96 and comes on the heels of Governor Matt Meyer’s public opposition to the EV mandate advanced by the previous administration.

“Electric vehicles have a place in our transportation future, and anyone who wants to buy one should be free to do so,” said Senator Pettyjohn. “But EVs are not a realistic option for every Delawarean, especially those living in rural areas, those with long commutes, or people without access to reliable charging infrastructure. This one-size-fits-all mandate ignores those realities and pushes us closer to an energy supply crisis.”

SB 140 would prevent DNREC from enforcing any future regulations that restrict the sale of vehicles currently legal under Delaware’s Clean Car standards. The bill would not impact existing emissions requirements but would halt the agency’s ability to pursue California-style bans on fuel-powered vehicles.

“Delaware’s electric grid is already under increasing strain. Forcing more EVs onto car lots, and subsequently into garages, will only compound the problem,” Senator Pettyjohn added. “We should be working to expand energy options and consumer freedom, not limit them.”

Senate Bill 140 has been filed and awaits consideration in the Senate Environment, Energy, & Transportation Committee.

Thank you Senator!

Finally. Someone with some common sense !

How about we stop building thousands and thousands of houses. Talk about stress on Environment,Energy, and transportation. Crazy! We need a moratorium on overdevelopment ! File a bill on that.

How does DNREC have a say in what car we buy? Thanks Brian!

Thank you soooo very much for standing up for We The People! Finally, we have common sense!

Thank you for always being a voice of reason and common sense.

Absolutely 💯

I wish you were our governor.

Thank you Brian for all you do!!

Good. Job

I 100 % agree

Am I correct stating that the EV mandate was decided by unelected bureaucrats?

Thank you Brian for your commonsense values and standing up for all Delawareans.

Thank you Brian, it's about time somebody stand up against these mandates that don't work. And who the hell gave DNREC the authority to control car sales?

What younger person can afford a electric vehicle half of them can not afford a $2000 car

Thank you, Senator Pettyjohn. No one should be mandated on what type of vehicle they need to purchase. That is a major purchase and is a very individual decision.

They better pass it.

Common sense

Good job Brian!

Thank you. I do not think EV vehicle mandates are a productive measure.

I hope it passes! And don’t forget about lawn mowers please!

I support this completely wow we have somebody that has a brain in this state.

Thank you Brian. It should be a choice and not forced. You're doing a great job.

A Republican with common sense. Sounds like we do have choices after all. Good to know .

Delaware is better because of Senator Pettyjohn. He has done so much for us and we appreciate it.

MEDIA RELEASE: Senator Pettyjohn, Representative Williams Introduce Bills to Combat Sexual Extortion and Enhance Protections for Digital Assets

DOVER, Del. — Senate Republican Whip Brian Pettyjohn (R – Georgetown) and Representative Kim Williams (D – Stanton) have introduced two significant pieces of bipartisan legislation aimed at protecting Delaware families and strengthening legal safeguards against sexual extortion.

These bills address critical issues affecting vulnerable populations and reflect Delaware’s commitment to adapting laws to modern challenges.

“By updating our laws to reflect the realities of the digital age and the growing threat of sexual extortion, we’re taking proactive steps to protect our communities,” Senator Pettyjohn said. “These measures send a clear message: Delaware stands with victims and their families, and we will act swiftly to ensure justice and support.”

The first bill, Senate Bill 142, strengthens penalties for sexual extortion and mandates educational outreach. Modeled after South Carolina’s “Gavin’s Law,” it elevates sexual extortion to a Class B felony when the victim is a child, vulnerable adult, and suffers serious injury or death. Additionally, the legislation integrates sexual extortion awareness into Delaware’s Erin's Law curriculum, requiring school districts and charter schools to educate students, employees, and parents about this crime.

The second, Senate Bill 143, enhances fiduciary access to digital assets and accounts, particularly for parents of deceased minors. Inspired by Ohio’s “Braden’s Law,” this legislation requires courts to expedite applications from parents or legal guardians seeking access to a deceased minor’s digital assets, aiming to resolve such cases within 30 days. This change ensures timely access to critical digital information, alleviating prolonged distress for grieving families.

“These two bills address real-world tragedies and aim to prevent further harm,” said Representative Williams. “No family should endure unnecessary delays in accessing a loved one’s digital accounts, and no child should face the horrors of sexual extortion without robust legal and educational protections. These laws provide Delawareans with the tools to combat these issues in the years ahead.”

SB 142 has been assigned to the Senate Judiciary Committee and SB 143 will be heard in the Senate Banking, Business, Insurance & Technology Committee. Both are expected to receive committee consideration in the coming weeks.

We are deeply grateful to Senator Brian Pettyjohn and Representative Kimberly Williams for championing Senate Bills 142 and 143—critical legislation to strengthen Delaware’s fight against child exploitation and human trafficking. SB 142 and 143 will close dangerous legal gaps, increase penalties for traffickers, and give law enforcement the tools they need to better identify and protect child victims. Thank you for advocating for some of the most vulnerable in Delaware!

Good job guys! These types of crimes have escalated with our wide open borders.

Senator What’s being done about the theft of our money for electricity by Delmarva power. They are outright stealing money from us in Delaware.

Social issues how about the elected republicans work on how to reduce the tax burden on seniors, lower property taxes... You know let people keep the money they make/earn.

Thank you Brian Pettyjohn and Rep.Kimberly Williams for your help addressing these very important issues!

Thanks Brian 👏👏👏

Thank you
